Air Scribe Spares & Maintenance

At ZOIC PalaeoTech, we only use stone-grade tungsten carbide for our styli. Quality tungsten carbide is essential to withstanding the trials and tribulations of fossil preparation.

Tungsten carbide is used for styli in fossil preparation because it is the only material that is wear-resistant enough to take the abrasion of rock. Its ability to maintain a point or set geometry makes it perfect for fossil preparation applications. However, due to its manufacturing process and nature as a sintered material it can also be brittle if used improperly or dropped. We only source our tungsten carbide from a manufacturer with stringent quality control checks.

We also make custom styli. Do you need a specialist chisel shape on your ZOIC Chicago? A slightly longer stylus on your Microraptor? Just drop us an email with your requirements.
